Description

This is a beautifully sculpted and stylized figure of a terrier or schnauzer by Italian artist Guido Cacciapuoti. Charmingly hand-painted, it is incised/signed by Cacciapuoti on the side, and it also still has the original Cacciapuoti sticker on the bottom. He is approximately 4" long and 3.5" tall. There are no cracks, chips or other damage. This figurine was well cared-for and carefully displayed. The color is a rich chocolate brown and the soulful eyes perfectly capture the spirit of the dog. In Italy, during the first half of the 20th century, Cacciapuoti was one of the main interpreters of animal subjects. His style combined synthesis, naturalism and precision with a contemplative analysis. Guido's philosophy as an artist was this: "In everyday life, men seek refuge: I have found it in the silence of animals, and for that I am committed to expressing it."
